Free Trade Agreements

Since joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), Vietnam’s economy has been increasingly integrated with the region and the global.

So far, Viet Nam has joined various Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), both at the bilateral and multilateral level. Among them, those new-generation FTAs, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the European Union (EVFTA), attempt to address sustainability challenges of free trade by incorporating labour and environment requirements. Respecting ILO fundamental Conventions is a central requirement of these trade deals. The passing of the Labour Code 2019, therefore, marked an important move, paving the way for the full realization of these commitments.
